Athletes and delegates arriving in the Capital for the Commonwealth Games will get a taste of Indian hospitality right after getting down from their planes.
They won't be going through the usual hassles of queuing up at immigration counters, security checks and conveyor belts. There will be a dedicated area for the delegates at the Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport with separate lounges, conveyor belts and immigration counters.
The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC), along with the private airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has made an elaborate plan to welcome the guests, who will start arriving from September 15.
The protocol functional area of the OC will take care that the guests do not face any problem in arriving and exiting the airport.
"There is a dedicated area for the guests at the airport and there will be separate immigration counters and a lounge," said OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot.
The protocol officials will hand over the guests to the OC's transport officials to whisk them away to the Games Village or hotels. "The guests will have a smooth and seamless journey from the moment they de-board from the aircraft till they reach their accommodation," he said.
The domestic section of T3, which is yet to be opened for domestic operations, will be used as a dedicated lounge for the Games guests.
