Delhi police have arrested a person who claimed he has killed four people. He told the police that his latest victims were two men who he met at an ATM booth in Prashant Vihar.
Subhash Bhardawaj (35), son of a retired army man, told the police he killed four people. He has other four criminal cases registered against him at various police stations in northwest Delhi. He was arrested from Prashant Vihar.
On June 8, two men were attacked outside an ATM booth at DCM Chowk in Prashant Vihar. While one of them died on the spot, a passerby found the other unconscious. Manoj Chaurasia, the victim, was declared brought dead at the hospital. His friend Narsi was admitted with critical injuries. Both of them were working at a photocopy shop in the vicinity.
A police officer said the victims had gone to the ATM booth since it was hot outside. The police had recovered a tattered bag from the crime spot and began investigations. “When we opened the bag we found items used for puja purposes. We went to the nearby temples and asked the vendors there. A tea vendor helped us in identifying the accused,” he added.
Following leads given by the tea vendor, police were able to trace Subhash. He was arrested from a temple in the area. The police recovered the clothes Subhash was wearing at the time of the murder. During interrogation, he said he killed the latest victims because the two men had asked him what was he doing in the ATM booth. He said he did not have any enmity with the victims.
“Even policemen in the area have never asked me about my movements. I was enraged when the two men asked me why I was at the ATM. I took out my knife and killed them,” Subhash reportedly told police.
Subhash claimed to have killed a Nepalese woman on Outer Ring Road a few months ago when she asked him for money. He claimed he had killed two people when he went to Mumbai about a year ago.
Subhash is a school dropout and had left home when he was 18 years old. He belongs to Sonepat and is presently in judicial custody.
