A speeding Scorpio car ran over three persons inside the District Headquarters compound in Ghaziabad, killing a seven-year-old girl and injuring two others on Thursday.

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. when an undertrial Mehmood Ali's two minor daughters, Shabnam and Ruma, and father Rehmat Ali had come to meet him at Ghaziabad District and Sessions Court complex inside the District Headquarters.

Shabnam was crushed under the speeding vehicle and died on the spot, police officials said. Rehmat Ali and Ruma were rushed to hospital in a police PCR van, the police said.

“A speeding Scorpio hit the four of us when we were heading towards the exit. The culprits sped away after hitting us. The people at the District Headquarters tried to chase and stop the culprits but failed do so,” said Rehmat Ali in his complainant.

"Ruma sustained severe head injuries. There were two people inside the Scorpio and we have started investigations," said Vijay Kumar, Station House Officer, Kavi Nagar.

A case under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against two unidentified accused at Kavi Nagar police station.
