Delhi's poor will get nine LPG cylinders at subsidised rates instead of six. Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit said about 3.56 lakh economically weaker families covered under Below Poverty Line (BPL), Antodaya Anna Yojana and Jhuggi Ration Card schemes would benefit from it.
"Our government is committed to safeguard the interests of 'aam aadmi'. That is why we have decided to provide three extra subsidised cylinders to the poor families," Dikshit said.
Delhi government officials said all beneficiaries of 'Kerosene free Dilli', a scheme announced by Delhi government under which the poor families are being given free LPG connection, gas stove, and pipe, will benefit as well.
Auto Fare hike in Faridabad
Auto drivers in Faridabad have announced a hike of fifty per cent in fares and tried to force the new rates on the commuters as well as their fellow auto-rickshaw drivers.
On Monday morning, several auto-rickshaw drivers stopped autos on Bhadkal-Patel Chowk Road area with lathis in their hands and asked the auto drivers to demand the hiked fare. They also damaged some autos.
Panic-stricken auto-rickshaw drivers immediately hiked the minimum fare of R7 to R10. Surprisingly, the CNG-run autos also hiked the fare despite the fact there has been no increase in prices of CNG.
"I know some auto-drivers created ruckus in the morning hours due to which the passengers suffered," said Vasudev Ahariya, president of Samast Haryana Auto Sangh, Faridabad. He urged the auto drivers to be calm and allow the union to decide the fare hike issue. "I will ensure that no unreasonable hike is made and commuters do not suffer," said Balraj Singh, DC Faridabad.
