Two days after Delhi school student Shivam Soni, 10, died allegedly after falling off the balcony of a second-floor room at a Mussoorie hotel, a case of murder has been registered at the hill station while his family met Delhi Police on Tuesday.
“We met R.S. Krishnia, additional commissioner of police (southwest) on Tuesday morning to apprise him about the incident,” said Ashwini Verma (33), Shivam’s uncle.
The Vermas reportedly submitted a representation detailing the course of events leading up to the incident in addition to prima facie reports prepared by the local police to the senior police officer.
“We are in receipt of the family’s representation,” said additional CP Krishnia.
“Since a case has already been registered at Mussoorie, it is not our prerogative to investigate the matter, but we are ready and willing to lend any support that our counterparts in the local police as per their requirement.”
Verma said that the family would make the same representation to senior government officials on Wednesday.
“We will submit the same documents to Delhi CM Sheila Diskhit, Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal and state Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely among other officials tomorrow,” said Verma.
The Verma household was also visited by Dr. Anjali Seth, Principal, ITL Public School on Tuesday morning.
“A team from the school including members of the managerial board and the principal also met us in the morning to offer us their condolences,” Verma added.
