After the nexus between the staff of New Friends Colony police station and the accused — who had beaten Bhupender Nagar, chief security officer of a pub in Nehru Place — has been exposed, the SHO of the police station was transferred on Saturday evening.
An FIR was filed on the morning of February 13, but the SHO of the police station woke up only when senior officers called him after footage of the incident started doing rounds of media offices.
While senior police officers admitted a lapse on the part of the investigating officer and the SHO, they remained tight-lipped on the action to be taken against them. Rohit Tomar, a friend of Nagar, has alleged that after reaching the spot, the police got hold of three accused but later, let them go.
“After making arrests in the case, we decided to transfer the SHO to district lines as he reacted late in the case,” a senior police officer said.
“The officer came to us and said he has caught three persons. He asked for money to officially arrest them. We all know what happen after that,” Tomar said. Tomar also alleged that despite all the accused can be clearly seen in the CCTV footage obtained from a nearby hotel, the investigating team failed to arrest the accused.
