A Delhi Police sub-inspector (SI) and a head constable (HC), posted at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station in north Delhi, were suspended for not carrying out proper legal action and allegedly bashing up three youths inside the police station.
The suspended police personnel have been identified as SI Pukhraj and head constable Suresh.
A senior police officer said the two officers had gone to attend an emergency call and were returning to the police station when they saw a fight had broken out between two groups in Mukherjee Nagar area.
“The policemen intervened and tried to sort out the matter. But despite their repeated attempts, when nobody from the two fighting groups paid attention to their requests, the police officers caught two youths — Simar Singh and Inderpreet Singh — from one group and Aakash from another group and brought them to the police station,” said senior police officer.
At the police station, the officer said, the two officers reportedly beat the three youths without making any entry about the matter in the daily police diary.
After some time, they let them off. The accused officers didn’t inform their seniors about this at all.
“Since the policemen did not make an entry into the record book, they were placed under suspension for negligent conduct,” added the senior officer.
