Traffic movement will be affected at several arterial roads, mostly in New Delhi and Central Delhi, on Wednesday due to a procession to commemorate the martyrdom day anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The procession will begin at Parade Ground in Chandni Chowk at 10 am.

It will then proceed through Esplande Road, Nai Sarak, Chawari Bazar, Ajmeri Gate, Paharganj, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, Basant Road, Punchkuian Road, Bangla Sahib Marg, Gole Market, GPO and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj.

It is expected to end at 10.30 pm, traffic police sources said.

During the movement, traffic will be diverted at several points including Red Fort crossing, HC Sen Marg, SPM Marg, Town Hall, Barshbullah, Ajmeri Gate, Paharganj, Basant Road, Punchkuian Road and Minto Road among others, according to a traffic advisory issued by traffic police.

"Traffic will slow down and may face congestion along the route taken by the procession. General public and motorists are advised to avoid the routes to prevent inconvenience," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
