Delhi Traffic police heaved a sigh of relief on Friday, as there was no major traffic problem when the Games lane restrictions were in place during peak hours.
"Restrictions on the lanes was enforced between 11 a.m. and 12 noon to ferry athletes from the airport to the Games village," said Ajay Chadha, Special CP (Traffic).
He said the traffic police did not penalise anybody on Friday. "We had decided not to be very strict during the initial days. But from Monday we will not spare anybody entering the lanes," he added.
On Saturday, 145 athletes are expected to arrive. "There will be partial restriction on Games lane between 9.30 and 10.30 a.m. Other than this, there will not be exclusive restriction," said Satyendra Garg, Joint CP (Traffic).
