A 25-year-old software engineer has been arrested on charges of allegedly raping a woman and shooting the act in Maharani Bagh area of southeast Delhi last week.

Dushyant Verma, son of a Shillong-based hotelier, was arrested after the girl complained to police that the engineer had threatened to make the video public if she mentioned the incident to anyone.

Verma invited the 21-year-old victim her for lunch to his Maharani Bagh house on April 18 and raped her. The laptop seized from Verma’s residence contained objectionable videos of not just the victim, but of several other women, raising suspicion that he might have been involved in similar other cases.
