Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, DCP (special cell), said the complainant was receiving calls from a person who had identified himself as Chima Shahi from an international mobile number. During investigation, it came to light that the number from which the extortion calls were being made was active along the Indo-Nepal border in Uttarakhand. It was also found that several calls were made to Deepak from the same number.

"Deepak was arrested when he came to Delhi to keep an eye on the movement of the victim. His interrogation led the police to Singh," said Yadav.
