“She is doing fine… much better and will return soon,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said on Friday about her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi who is convalescing after a successful surgery abroad for an undisclosed ailment.
Sonia is expected to return to by August-end or first week of September but would be out of action for some time to recuperate fully.
Priyanka on Friday sat in the front row of the visitors’ gallery in the Lok Sabha, listening in rapt attention to her brother and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s forceful speech on corruption, social activist Anna Hazare and the Lokpal issues during zero hour.
Priyanka is back in India for her son’s birthday. Rahul, her husband Robert Vadra and their two children had returned a few days earlier.
Wearing a red sari, she tried to avoid the the media and escape anxious journalists, especially when video cameras were pointed at her.
When asked about her views on Rahul’s speech, she said, “He was very good… I completely endorse his views.”
And on being questioned about Hazare’s fast and the ongoing anti-corruption protests, she smiled, merely saying “my views are irrelevant”, before boarding her vehicle.
