Soon, smart card for multi-level parking
Parking at the automated multi-level parking lot in Sarojini Nagar and Baba Kharak Singh Marg will soon become smoother with concessionaire DLF coming up with prepaid cards for users.
Parking at the automated multi-level parking lot in Sarojini Nagar and Baba Kharak Singh Marg will soon become smoother with concessionaire DLF coming up with prepaid cards for users.
The facility will be introduced on the lines of Delhi Metro cards on March 15. It will help regular users to save 10 percent on the parking rate, which is currently R10 per hour. The cards will also save time as card holders will not have to purchase new tickets each time they visit the place.
Speaking about the new value-added service, Benu Sehgal, vice president and mall head of DLF Place, Saket, said, "The prepaid card will save 10 percent on the parking charges of users and will save the trouble of buying tickets each time."
The prepaid card is one of the measures DLF has taken to increase the popularity of its two multi-level parking lots that were built in order to reduce congestion at Sarojini Nagar and Connaught Place. Since its inauguration in 2011 and 2012, more than one lakh cars have been parked at the two sites.
The automated parking at Sarojini Nagar and Baba Kharak Singh Marg are the first and only two such facilities in the city. The parking areas can accommodate 800 cars and 1400 cars, respectively.
Though the concessionaire DLF has been insisting that both parking facilities are running successfully, the sites have had their share of controversy with commuters complaining of technical glitches and excessive delays in retrieving cars.
The two facilities have also not been able to stop commuters from parking cars on the roadside.
