Samajwadi Party on Sunday came down heavily on former Congress MPs Begum Noor Bano and Sajjan Kumar for occupying official bungalows even as its party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was to get possession of his new official house nearly seven months after election to the Lok Sabha.

"Noor Bano is a heavy weight. She is not vacating her house even though she completed her term in 2004...Are we living in princely India or modern India?" SP general secretary Amar Singh asked.

Bano, who belongs to the local royal family of Rampur, is the bete noire of SP MP and Amar Singh's close associate Jaya Prada. The actor-turned-politician had defeated Bano twice in the Lok Sabha polls from Rampur.

Bano has been occupying 29, Meena Bagh in the city for the past five years. The house has now been alloted to a Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh.

Singh also alleged that Sajjan Kumar was still occupying his Ashok Road residence though it had been alloted to Yadav as the former was also a heavyweight and was "exercising" his influence in his party.

"I have heard that Sajjan Kumar's house is being rented out for marriages," the SP general secretary claimed.

Singh also said the SP MP in the Rajya Sabha Jaya Bachchan was not alloted a house till now though only six months of her six-year tenure were left.
