Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Thursday missed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the House as he bid farewell to it.
Chatterjee, in his last address to the 14th Lok Sabha, made a special mention about Singh and Vajpayee being unable to attend the House because of their indisposition.
“Before I proceed, I wish to express my great personal sorrow that today our honourable Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee are unable to be present here due to their indisposition,” he said.
He congratulated the Prime Minister for his successful surgery on behalf of himself and on behalf of the House.
“I am sure he (Singh) will soon be able to resume his normal activities with perfect health and vigour,” he said.
Chatterjee also extended best wishes to Vajpayee for his speedy and complete recovery.
“We are happy that he is making good progress on his way to complete recovery,” the Speaker said.
He also extended best wishes to “my dear and young friend” Priyaranjan Dasmunsi for a speedy and complete recovery.
