In a bid to spread awareness about the need to embrace diverse cultures and religions among generation next, a Youth Leadership Summit titled ‘We are one but we are many’, was held at Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, on Thursday. The theme of the two-day event is ‘Appreciating diversity in school, society and nation’.

Apart from lectures, workshops and powerpoint presentations, the event witnessed active participation from leading schools across the Capital.

Student leaders representing their schools spoke on issues revolving around diversity, discrimination and leadership.

“It is a great initiative to bring so many schools on a common platform and help them appreciate the importance of diversity. This interaction will help us garner knowledge and formulate action plans for our respective schools,” said Ananya Das, a Class 12 student of the host school.

Speaking in a similar vein, Srishti Vasudeva, a Class 10 student of Blue Bells International School, Kailash Colony, said, “This is a great way to increase our tolerance level. The recent cartoon controversy is a live example of how tolerance levels are going down.”

Salman Khurshid, the minister of law and justice and minority Affairs, was the chief guest at the occasion. He urged students to be torchbearers and help appreciate diversity.
