“We couldn’t get the tickets, so we decided to come here. The big screen certainly helps," said Pramod Mishra, a resident of North Delhi.

The screen in CP, which didn’t see much action as it was closed for four days, was put up last week.

“I wanted to see the ceremony on a big screen. As most markets are closed today, coming to CP was the only way I could have done that,” said

Rohit Sunny, a resident of Mukherjee Nagar, who is preparing for Civil Services examination. “This is a great moment for us and I wanted to be part of it somehow.”

Cheering loudly for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the 300-odd crowd enjoyed every moment of the three-hour ceremony.

“The laser show was spectacular. It mesmerised everyone,” said Mahesh Chaturvedi, a 36-year-old businessman, who came to watch the ceremony with his wife and two children, from Lajpat Nagar.

Similar screen were also put up in Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Gate, Rajpath and Greater Kailash I.

However, many viewers complained about poor sound and left after the laser show. “The volume is very low and no one can hear anything. The performance by singers could just not be heard,” said Veena Mehra, a resident of Noida.
