Barely a few hours before the Commonwealth Games begin, a car parked at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) sent security agencies into a tizzy on Saturday.
According to sources, the car, parked outside Terminal 1-D, let out a mysterious sound that was noticed by some Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
Soon, security agencies swung into action. The Delhi Police, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and the dog squad were informed.
"The dog squad said there was no bomb.
But since the sound kept coming, we called in the bomb disposal squad," the source added.
"It was later found that the car had a weak battery, which led to it emitting the beeping sound," the source added.
"The owner of the car, Heera Lal, a resident of Jehangirpuri, had parked his car at the airport on Thursday and boarded a flight to Kolkata. We have asked him to report at the Palam police station," the official added.
