Super Zoo Zoo to make its debut as Comic Con returns to Delhi this weekend

Among the special attractions this year will be Super Zoo Zoo, the popular Vodafone mascot, that will make its Comic Con debut. Pass holders this year will also receive exclusive Archie titles with a customized Delhi city cover.

Comic Con will be back in Delhi this weekend. The 2017 edition, from December 15-17, will include international guests like Archie Comics artist Dan Parent, creator of popular web comics series Dinosaur Comics Ryan North, and multiple Eisner award winning artist and writer for The art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye Sonny Liew.

Famous YouTubers and stand up comedians like Abish Mathew — who is widely known for his association with All India Bakchod and as the star of Son of Abish — Sahil Shah and Azeem Banatwalla from East India Comedy and Naveen Richards from Them Boxer Shorts are going to perform live during the three-day event to be held at NSIC Grounds in Okhla.

According to organisers, Delhi Comic Con 2017 will be much bigger and better with a range of new activities. Among the special attractions this year will be Super Zoo Zoo, the popular Vodafone mascot, that will make its Comic Con debut. Pass holders this year will also receive exclusive Archie titles with a customized Delhi city cover.

“Delhi Comic Con is our flagship show and each year we work hard to deliver a stellar show to our fans. This year we have gone all out with fan experiences along with an awesome line up for guests and the geekiest shopping experience ever,” said Comic Con India founder Jatin Varma.

Comic Con India was started with an inaugural show in February of 2011 in Delhi. Held over two days, it featured 25 exhibitors and attracted close to 5,000 visitors. Over the years since it has expanded to five cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune, and attracted over 1,70,000 visitors cumulatively with over 1,000 exhibitors.

“Its our biggest show till date and this year we are quite heavy on fan experiences be it the various zones from Maruti Suzuki, One Plus, Star Wars, Vodafone, Marvel, Transformers, VR Dome, AXN to the gaming element from the ESL India final championships and the Mountain Dew Gaming Arena. As always we have a great line up of comic book and entertainment guests from India and around the world. This year will also see the Super Zoo Zoo debut,” Varma said.

Over 50,000 visitors are expected by the organisers for the three-day event.

“We are dedicated to creating unique events and giving fans, exhibitors and partners a platform to celebrate their undying love and passion for comics and pop culture. Comic Con India is dedicated to expanding India’s popular culture by creating high profile events that cater to fans of not only comics, but also, gaming, movies, television, merchandise, toys and more,” another organiser said.

Artists and creators like Abhijeet Kini, Aniruddho Chakraborty, Sailesh Gopalan, Saumin Patel, Vivek Goel, Rajeev Tamhankar, Sumit Kumar, among others, will be present this year.
