Suspecting affair, man kills wife with spade in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, dumps body
Police said that the husband suspected the woman of infidelity and suspected that she had extra marital affairs with some men in their locality.
A 30-year-old woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death by her husband at their home in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar late on Wednesday night.
Police said that the husband suspected his wife Nargis of infidelity and suspected that she had extra marital affairs with some men in their locality. The accused, identified as Anees Ali, 35, was arrested on Thursday after the crime was reported at the Neb Sarai police.
Police said that after allegedly attacking and killing his wife with a spade around Wednesday midnight, Anees wrapped her body in two blankets and stuffed it in a gunny bag. The man then cleaned blood stains from the floor and the walls and tried to dump the body in a nearby forested area.
“He changed his mind later and hid the bag under the staircase of a nearby house,” said an officer.
Chinmoy Biswal, additional deputy commissioner of police (south), said that the crime came to light at 7.44am when some locals spotted the bag containing a woman’s body and called the police control room (PCR).
“The body had multiple sharp and blunt injuries over head, left side of the face and on shoulder,” said Biswal.
“The body had multiple sharp and blunt injuries over head, left side of the face and on shoulder. Local residents identified the woman as Nargis,” said Biswal adding a murder case was registered in connection with the crime.
During the probe, a police team searched Nargis’ home and found some blood marks on the first floor.
The team later figured out that though his wife was missing, the accused had neither informed his neighbours about it nor had he filed a missing complaint with the police. He was seen wandering in the locality and brought in for questioning. During interrogation, Anees confessed to having killed his wife in a fit of rage.
“He told us that they had an argument in the night. After the argument, Nargis started smoking after which Anees picked up a spade and attacked her multiple times on her head due to which she died on the spot,” the officer said. Her body was sent to AIIMS mortuary for autopsy.
