Having accused PM Manmohan Singh of sitting on his plea seeking nod to prosecute ex-telecom minister A Raja, Janata Party leader Subramanium Swamy on Tuesday went “soft” on him, saying the law ministry did not advise him properly.

Swamy gave ‘the clean chit’ to the PM saying the “legal arm” of government hadn’t informed him of what to do. “On reading the PMO’s affidavit it appears that nobody told the PM about the Supreme Court judgment saying a complaint has to be replied within three months of its receiving,” he told the court.

Swamy praised the PM in his response to attorney general GE Vahanvati’s submissions on the law governing sanction for prosecuting a minister in a corruption case.
