Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today demanded that the Prime Minister ask Attorney General G E Vahanvati to recuse himself from the 2G spectrum scam case in the Supreme Court alleging he was a party to the controversial decision by former Telecom Minister A Raja.

Swamy, who is the petitioner in the 2G case in the apex court, wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting him to direct the AG to recuse from the case in "public interest" or else he warned that he would seek the apex court's intervention for the purpose.

He claimed that Vahanvati was a party in the decision making by former Minister Raja in 2007 as he gave an opinion to him contrary to that of the then Law Minister.
