The South Delhi Police have nabbed two people, including a woman teacher, on charges of selling Commonwealth Games tickets at inflated prices.

This comes two days after Hindustan Times reported about black marketing of Games tickets and passes.

The police arrested 34-year-old Rekha (she goes by single name) on charges of selling complimentary passes at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The police have recovered 96 complimentary tickets of different denominations and dates from her possession.

“After newspaper report stating that tickets and complimentary passes were being sold in black by some people, teams were deployed at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium near the ticket counter. They were asked to keep an eye on such illegal activities,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal.

Police said the woman is a resident of Madipur and is a teacher at a local government school. She told the police that the physical education teacher of the same school had given her the Complimentary Tickets by OC which were to be distributed for free.

She sold the tickets at gate number 15 just near to the authorised ticket counter of OC.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested one Sanjay Singhvi from outside Siri Fort Complex for selling tickets illegally.
