The Delhi Police chief believes that criminals and terrorists are much ahead of the Delhi Police when it comes to technology.

At the launch of Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner of Police OP Mishra’s book ‘Policing Delhi: Urbanisation, crime and law enforcement’, the top cop BK Gupta said, “With the use of technology, criminals and terrorists have gone far ahead of us. They have learnt the new art.”

Highlighting the challenges the police are facing on daily basis, Gupta added, “Online social networking has become a big tool for criminals and terrorists now. Not only in India but in London riots also they used the social networking websites. The Capital has grown geographically as well as population wise and continues to pose a challenge for the Delhi Police.”

On the book written by DCP OP Mishra, Gupta said, “The book covers the journey of Delhi Police and how it evolved. He has written about the crime trends in the Capital and on how the technology affects policing.”

Mishra’s book is the first full-length study of the connection between rapid urbanisation, rising crime, and law enforcement in Delhi. It is an insider’s account of the evolution of policing in Delhi.
