The Capital on Saturday witnessed a hot day, recording a maximum temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius. Clear sky conditions and absence of breeze made the day more uncomfortable. The morning temperature at 20.2 degrees Celsius, however, was three degrees below normal.
The city will get hotter in the coming days with the temperature expected to rise to 40 degrees by the middle of next week.
“Western disturbances that caused rain and low temperature in March and most of the April are not going to affect the region anymore. The temperatures will rise consistently in the days to come,” said the weatherman. The maximum temperature on Sunday is expected to be as high as 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to touch 21 degrees.
On Monday, the maximum temperature will be between 39 and 23 degrees. Both the days will see a clear sky. The Met department has predicted a cool summer this year compared to 2010.
“The temperature may rise 2 degrees above normal but it will not be as hot as last year. No records will be broken,” a Met official said.
