Third time lucky? Tharoor weds on Aug 17
He’s been married twice and divorced the same number of times. Now, former Union minister of state for external affairs, Shashi Tharoor, is expected to get hitched again, this time to his friend Sunanda Pushkar on August 17—the start of the Malayalam New Year.
Tharoor—whose divorce from his second wife, Canadian Christa Giles, came through on Friday —is likely to tie the knot at the Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple at Thiruvananthapuram, his constituency.
But the grapevine has it that he may solemnise the wedding early and hold a reception on August 17.
Of late, London-born Tharoor and Pushkar have been visiting many temples together.
On Saturday, the two performed a puja at a temple near Shirdi.
“Wonderful visit 2 (to) open-air temple to Saturn and Shani Shingnapur. Simple ritual in clean, pure surroundings. 1 (one) can nvr (never) know enuf (enough) of our culture,” Tharoor had tweeted.
Tharoor has twin sons Ishaan and Kanishk from his first marriage to Tilottama Mukherjee, an academic.
