He fell in love with her the moment he saw her and three days later he killed her husband.

Uttar Pradesh resident Moinuddin (28) was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Mohammed Ashraf Ali (30).

On September 13, 2006, Moinuddin came to Delhi for business and booked a room at Gahlot Guest House in Hazarat Nizammudin. He noticed a woman and fell in love with her.

Rubina (26) and her husband Mohammed Ashraf Ali had come Mumbai to visit the city. The couple was staying in next-door Hazi Guest House.

Harcharan Verma, SHO, Hazarat Nizammudin police station, said the accused then quickly befriended the deceased.

On the second day Moinuddin wrote letters Rubina and one letter in blood saying “Saath Marenge Saath Jiyenge” (live together and die together). Rubina reportedly brushed him off saying he is a stranger to her and she deeply loved her husband.

Police said unmoved by her resistance, Moinuddin persuaded her to marry him and confessed it was love at first sight and that she should honour his sentiments. Rubina declined his proposal.

On September 16 (the third day), the police found Ali's body with multiple stab injuries in a nearby park. There was no eyewitness to the murder.

The police had recovered a key ring of the guest house where the accused was staying with his room number from near the body.

On enquiring, the police were told that the accused was seen wearing blood-stained clothes on September 16. He was arrested four days later.

The court had noted that Moinuddin became obsessed and decided to kill Ali.
