Three persons, including a minor girl, were injured when a speeding luxury sedan hit the two-wheeler they were riding near in central Delhi on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The victims, Nasiruddeen, 37, a resident of west Delhi's Raghubir Nagar, had brought his neighbour's children - Rahul Negi, 26, and his sister Parul, 13 - to the Sanjeevan Hospital for a medical check up, said DC Shrivastava, additional CP (central).
The trio were headed back home when a speeding BMW bearing a Chandigarh registration rammed the Yamaha bike, they were riding on, at the Powerhouse Road behind Rajghat at 2:30pm.
"Maan Bahadur, the errant driver, had dropped two persons at a five-star hotel in central Delhi and was on his way back to Chandigarh. He failed to control the car after it swerved dangerously and hit the bike," said a senior police officer.
According to police, while Bahadur was arrested from the spot, the victims were rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital. Doctors attending on them said Nasiruddeen and Parul were unconscious while Negi was out of danger.
Bahadur has been booked for rash and negligent driving at the Daryaganj Police Station.
In a separate accident, a 30-year-old farmer from Haryana was mowed down by a speeding DTC low-floor bus near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport's Terminal 3 (T3) on Sunday morning.
"The victim, who has been identified as Prawesh Kumar from Sonepat, had come to the city with a friend and was apparently mowed down while crossing the road around 8 am," said a senior police officer.
