Three labourers injured at Govindpuri metro site

Two labourers were seriously injured when iron plates reportedly fell on them at a metro construction site in Govindpuri area of south Delhi past midnight on Saturday, reports HT Correspondent.

Two labourers were seriously injured when iron plates reportedly fell on them at a metro construction site in Govindpuri area of south Delhi past midnight on Saturday.

The incident was reported around 12.30 a.m. on Saturday at the Govindpuri metro station of the Central Secretariat- Badarpur line currently under construction.

The mishap took place when few labourers were lifting iron plates with the help of a pulley at the construction site, the police said.

The police said they were investigating the cause of the accident but preliminary investigations revealed that one of the iron plates fell while they were being lifted.

Three labourers were injured in the mishap. They were rushed to Moolchand Hospital.

While one of them was discharged after first-aid, the condition of the other two was said to be serious.

The two workerts admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital have been identified as Mohammad Harsool and Arun Kumar, both in their mid-twenties.

“We have begun investigations into the case and are looking for the reasons that could have caused the mishap,” said a senior police officer.

The police said they have registered a case of negligence at Okhla and were investigating the case.
