Three persons were killed — all by relatives — over minor issues in three different incidents in the Capital in the past 48 hours.
In the first incident, a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death, allegedly by his elder brother, after the victim verbally abused their mother who had disowned him because of his ‘bad habits’.
The incident took place late on Wednesday night in west Delhi’s Laxmi Park near Nihal Vihar. The victim’s name is Mohammad Abdul and his elder brother is Irfan. A case of murder was registered against Irfan, who was arrested on Thursday morning.
A police officer said Abdul’s mother Saira Bano and his two brothers had disowned him a few months ago, allegedly because of his bad habits.
“Abdul felt his mother was the main reason behind his sufferings and he often used to misbehave with her. On Wednesday night, he arrived at the house and started abusing her verbally. Despite repeated warnings from Irfan and their youngest brother Ibrahim, Abdul continued to misbehave with their mother. This is when Irfan picked up a knife and stabbed him in his abdomen,” said the senior officer. Abdul was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
The second incident took place in outer Delhi’s Holambi Kalan near Shahabad Dairy late Wednesday night where a 26-year-old woman was battered to death with a stone by her husband who suspected her character.
The woman was identified as Phoolwati. The police arrested her husband Devender Kumar, a labourer, and booked him for murder.
The third incident took place on Tuesday night at Allah Colony in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar where a 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death, allegedly by her brother-in-law, following a fight over money.
The woman’s name is Lata Devi. The police have arrested the accused, Satpal.
