Three police personnel, including a woman Head Constable, were suspended and an Assistant Sub Inspector transferred on Thursday after Delhi Police ordered a vigilance inquiry into allegations of police personnel forcing a woman to strip during interrogation.
The woman, residing in a slum cluster in west Delhi, had filed a complaint in this regard with Delhi Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal.
According to the complainant, the incident took place in the last week of May, in the presence of a woman police personnel.
She added she was forced by to strip in front of her son and asked to have sex with him.
Her son had been arrested on charges of stealing.
The inquiry has now been transferred to the Vigilance Department of Delhi Police.
Woman Head Constable Amrita Singh and Constables Pramod Kumar and Santosh of Rajouri Garden police post were suspended from service pending inquiry.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, “The three personnel were suspended for not following proper procedure while questioning a juvenile.”
“As far as the allegations of them allegedly stripping the juvenile’s mother are concerned, the matter is still under investigation.”
Police had apprehended the woman’s two sons on May 22 for allegedly stealing money from a car.
