The heat wave continued unabated in North India, as Delhi had yet another day of unseasonable summer heat, craving for the monsoon rains to return.
With the sun glaring since early morning, the mercury shot up five degrees more than its normal mark to reach 40.6 degrees Celsius.
The minimum, too, was three degrees more, at 30.8 degrees Celsius.
The Met office has said some chances of rain — although not much — had emerged. “There could partly cloudy sky and thundershowers in the night in Thursday” said the forecaster.
So far, Delhi has received just 11 mm of rainfall in July — way below the expected figures. “A complete revival of monsoon seems unlikely anytime soon.”
The temperatures have risen almost 10 degrees in the past two weeks, making Delhiites pray for monsoon rains.
