Many important arterial roads will remain closed during morning hours on Sunday due to Airtel Delhi Half Marathon Championship.
These roads include Vinay Marg, Africa Avenue, Aurobindo Marg, Prithviraj Road, Mansingh Road, 'C' Hexagon, Rajpath, Janpath and Windsor Place. Most of these roads will remain closed between 6.30 am and 11.45 am, said Delhi traffic police sources.
Besides there will be traffic diversions during morning hours on several roads including Niti Marg-Satya Marg roundabout, Ring Road-Africa Avenue Road intersection, Ring Road from AIIMS flyover, Jor Bagh Road towards Aurbindo Marg, Lodhi Road-Amrita Shergill Marg 'T'-Point, Amrita Shergil Marg-Rajesh Pilot Marg, Shahjahan Road-Himayun Road 'T'-Point, 'C'-Hexagon-Akbar Road, 'C'-Hexagon-Rajpath, KG Marg-Feroz Shah Road Intersection, Tolstoy Marg-Janpath Intersection, Rafi Marg-Rajpath Intersection among others.
The assembly of the participants shall be at Central Civil Services Sports and Cultural Board Ground (Central Secretariat Grounds). All the runs will be flagged off from outside the ground on Vinay Marg.
"No vehicles will be allowed in the Central Secretariat Grounds or on Vinay Marg except special labelled vehicles. They shall be guided by the volunteers to assemble in their earmarked holding areas at Central Secretariat Grounds," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
VVIP sticker and elite athlete buses and cars with the label will be allowed to enter Vinay Marg from Ashoka Hotel side and enter the ground Via Gate No. 2 and alight there, he added.
Participants will park their vehicles on Race Course Ground, on Kamal Ataturak Marg and will have to walk to the starting point.
There shall be a park and ride shuttle bus service available from Bhikaji Cama Place which is a paid parking provided by the organizers. These vehicles will drop and pick-up on Niti Marg. This service will be available from 5.30 am onwards, informed officials.
