Truck overturns near Hapur bypass, kills 7
At least seven persons were killed and six injured when a truck bound for Bareilly from Delhi, laden with iron pipes, rammed into a divider and overturned, reports Peeyush Khandelwal.
At least seven persons were killed and six injured when a truck bound for Bareilly from Delhi, laden with iron pipes, rammed into a divider and overturned. The incident happened on Hapur bypass near Bulandshahr over-bridge at around 1 am on Wednesday, the police said.
Around 15 persons had boarded the truck from Mohan Nagar area of Ghaziabad and offered some money to the truck driver to drop them to Bareilly. The truck reportedly rammed into the divider and overturned near Hapur bypass. Some of the passengers died due to the impact while others were crushed below the iron-pipes that the truck was carrying.
The police immediately rushed the six injured to a nearby private hospital for treatment. The dead bodies have been sent for post-mortem at MMG Hospital in Ghaziabad. The driver and the helper fled the spot after the accident.
A case has been registered against the truck driver and his helper at Hafizpur police station by Lalu, one of the injured. The police officials are trying to trace them.
