The special cell of Delhi Police has arrested two persons with large quantities of narcotics substances which were to be supplied to China and Myanmar for high-end rave parties. The arrested persons have been identified as Deepak Rastogi and his accomplice Gurbachan Singh.
The police have recovered 150 kg of narcotics substances, Ephedrine and 18,000 strips of Pseudoephedrine (each strip containing 10 tablets) from their possession. The accused had procured the drugs from Meerut and were planning to smuggle them to China and Myanmar via Manipur. Ephedrine is in high demand in the international market as it is a key precursor for preparing party drugs such as ‘Esctasy’ and ‘Ice’, the police said.
According to a senior police officer, the arrests came following an information that Rastogi, one of the key members of the drug syndicate, had received a huge consignment of the drugs supplied from Meerut.
Efforts are on to nab other members of the syndicate, the police said.
