Two Delhi Police constables were injured when their motorcycle was hit by a Honda City car near Rail Bhawan on Thursday morning. The woman, who was driving the car, has been arrested.
A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against her at the Parliament Street police station. “Around 9am, the woman identified as Ritu Tondon was going to her Kirti Nagar residence after dropping her kids to a school on Barakhamba Road. She has been granted bail,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
The injured constables have been identified as Devki Nandan, 42, and Ashok Kumar, 40. They are posted at the Parliament Street police station. “Nandan was responsible for maintaining rooftop security at Rail Bhawan, while Kumar was posted near the Le Meridian Hotel. Both were going for work when the mishap took place," he added.
Initial investigations suggest that Tondon took a wrong turn from Rail Bhawan roundabout. She hit the bike, while trying to return to the main road.
While Kumar received fractures, Nandan escaped with minor bruises. They were rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Their condition is said to be stable. Police have taken the statement of both the victims. Ritu is a housewife and her husband is a businessman.
