Two jump airport wall to catch flights at IGI Airport, caught

What does a man live for? To fill his stomach with food bought from money earned from a job. And when a man retires from his job, what does he do? He usually starts thinking about salvation and tries to visit his religion’s sacred sites at least once.

That was the case with Uday Raj Chauhan (28) and Fazr Mohammed (65). While Chauhan wanted to go to Dubai to earn his livelihood, Mohammed just wanted to go on a Haj to Mecca and Medina.

They couldn’t. Simply because they decided to go for the bizarre, instead of the normal, way to catch their flights.

Their efforts left the Indira Gandhi International Airport a mere spectator to the bizarre trespassing attempts by these two men within 18 hours of each other.

Both were detained at the IGI Airport before they could fulfil their misguided attempts.

Both tried to scale the outer walls of the airport but were caught by the CISF personnel and handed over to police.

A Haj trip

According to Delhi Police, Mohammed, from Haryana, had come to Delhi alone and was looking for a way to go on a Haj. Police say, Mohammed allegedly scaled a 10-feet high gate at IGI to reach a plane that would take him to Mecca.

The incident took place around 9:50 pm on Saturday. The CISF caught Mohammed as soon as he climbed over Gate Number 5 at IGI and landed on the other side.

“We have registered a case against him for criminal trespassing and are interrogating him,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) OP Mishra.

The police are also unsure of his mental health, as the statements made to the police till now are allegedly ‘incoherent and inconsistent’.

“In one statement, Mohammed said a man told him that Haj pilgrims do not require to pay any money and can walk right into a plane. Further, he said the person told him that he could just climb the gate and sit in any aircraft he wanted,” said a senior police officer.

Livelihood

Before Mohammed, Chauhan, a resident of Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, was caught at the airport around 4 am on Saturday. Chauhan had wanted to go to Dubai to earn his livelihood. He had climbed a tree and jumped inside the technical area of the domestic airport and had reached the apron area to board an Air India aircraft.

It was here that the security staff caught him. Chauhan was also handed over to police.
