Two kids killed in cylinder blast

Two children died while five others including the parents of the children suffered severe burns after a cylinder blast in Kanti Nagar in East Delhi on Monday.

Two children died while five others including the parents of the children suffered severe burns after a cylinder blast in Kanti Nagar in East Delhi on Monday. The incident took place at house number 350, Gali number 7 in West Kanti Nagar.

Pradeep Kumar (28), his wife Rekha (27) and their two children, Dev (4) and Isha (5), were rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital, where Dev and Isha succumbed to their injuries around 3:00 p.m. The couple is still fighting for their lives.

A senior police officer said, "Neighbours said they heard the deafening sound of a blast around 7:30 in the morning. We suspect that the LPG cylinder must have somehow leaked and caught fire, which caused grievous burns to the all the four family members."

The three others injured in the incident are Lokesh (20), Sri Krishna (16) and Ashish (10). They were relatives of the family.

Hospital authorities said the two children had suffered more than 90 per cent burns while Pradeep and Rekha had sustained around 80 per cent burns.

Six killed in accidents

Six people, including a minor, were killed and three were injured in six separate accidents on Monday. In four accidents the victims were crushed by speeding vehicles. Attar Singh (56) was crushed by a DTC bus in Vasant Kunj on Monday morning. A 45-year-old DTC employee was killed when a truck hit his auto rickshaw. A speeding minibus crushed a seven-year-old in Chhawla in South Delhi. Two bikers were also killed in separate accidents.
