Two men, including a biker celebrating Shab-e-Raat, were killed and a pillion rider hurt in separate accidents in different parts of the Capital on Friday, police said.

According to the police, the first accident was reported from north Delhi’s Wazirabad flyover in which the driver of a three-wheeler delivery van, Dilip Das, was killed.

“The accident took place when Das was heading back to his Kishan Vihar home around 9.40 at night. We believe that his vehicle may have rammed the railing at a curve towards the end of the Wazirabad flyover,” said a senior police officer.

When the police, alerted by a call made by a passer-by, reached the spot, they found Das’s body lying a few feet away from his damaged vehicle. He was rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) hospital in an unconscious state but declared dead later.

In another accident, a biker, Nizam, was killed and his friend, Zafar, who was riding pillion on an Apache motorcycle, hurt after a collision with a two-wheeler on the BRT Corridor in south Delhi.

The duo, according to their statement to the police, were celebrating Shab-e-Raat, and headed to Dakshinpuri from Matka Peer when the accident occurred around 4.30 am.

“As soon as they crossed the Archana traffic light at the BRT corridor, a motorcyclist crashed into their vehicle. A police vehicle rushed Nizam to the AIIMS, where doctors declared him dead,” said an officer.

A case has been registered against unknown persons at the Greater Kailash Police Station.
