Two men were arrested for allegedly beating a man to death when he intervened in a quarrel which had resulted from a failed molestation bid. The incident took place in outer Delhi's Samaypur Badli area, police said on Saturday.

BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer), said Rajan and Sone Lal, both residents of the JJ Camp in Suraj Park, were arrested for beating one Ram Sewak to death with wooden planks on the night of August 21 last year.

"Around 11:30 pm on the fateful night, we received a call about a violent quarrel that had erupted over the issue of a woman's molestation. Ram Sewak was found bleeding profusely. He died on way to hospital," DCP Jaiswal said.

According to police, a quarrel had broken out between one Arjun and Arun, both residents of the same colony, over harassing a girl.

After some time, Arun's friends Mone Lal, Sone Lal, Aneesh and Rajan joined the commotion and started beating Arjun.

"Ram Sewak, a neighbour, tried to intervene but ended up becoming the mob's target. Two of their accomplices have already been arrested and they led us to the two who have been arrested as well," DCP Jaiswal said.
