Two motorcycle-borne youth, reportedly driving under the influence of liquor, were killed when their motorcycle hit a roundabout on Mandir Marg in New Delhi district on Sunday morning, said police.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Avtar (24) and Sunny (21), both residents of Tilak Nagar in West Delhi.
Police said the accident took place at around 5 am on Shankar Road near Talkatora Stadium, when the victims were heading towards Bangla Sahib Gurudwara for morning prayers.
The police said four of the victims’ friends, were following the motorcycle in a Wagon R car.
“Sunny was riding the motorcycle and Ram Avtar was riding pillion. While taking a turn on the roundabout, Sunny lost control over the vehicle. They were not wearing helmets,” said a senior police officer.
“They first hit the roundabout and then the road and due to severe head injuries died on the spot.”
He added Sunny had just learnt to ride a motorcycle.
Police said that a passerby saw the victims lying unconscious in a pool of blood on the road and made a PCR call.
“We took the victims to Lady Harding Hospital where they were delared brought,” said the officer. Police added they are also investigating if the Wagon R hit the motorcycle from behind.
