A day after the news of Akanksha Rathi's death became public, her family members claimed they had found a draft message in her mobile in which she allegedly wrote the reason behind her extreme step.
"'Maa (mother) I am killing myself because these people don't keep me properly…', these were the words which I found in the draft message of my daughter's mobile phone. Since the message was saved with my name in the sender's column, we assume that she wanted to send that message to me, but it was never delivered," Akanksha's mother, Anita Singh, told Hindustan Times.
It was, however, not clear from the message who were Akanksha were referring to.
Singh claimed Akanksha had sent a message to her close friend Kanika to inform her that some of their photographs were stolen from their Indore house. According to Singh, they have also found some e-mails that her husband, Aniruddha, had sent to his father before his death, pleading him not to take his business from him.
According to Akanksha's family members, her in-laws did not like her ever since she married Aniruddha Rathi against the wishes of his family members. Sources said that the Rathi family had detached themselves from the couple and had asked them to settle in Indore after setting up a factory there.
Akanksha's in-laws continue to maintain silence on the entire issue. Aniruddha's father has already taken interim bail from a Saket court in connection with the harassment case she had filed in Indore.
When Hindustan Times visited the Rathi bungalow at Sadhna Enclave in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar, the security guard said that none of the family members was present in the house.
Meanwhile, a team from Indore police reached Delhi to conduct investigation into the harassment complaint lodged by Akanksha against her inlaws in Indore.
