A suspected case of chicken pox was reported from the Games Village on Sunday afternoon.
The athlete, a rugby player from Uganda, was admitted to the GB Pant Hospital with symptoms of chicken pox: high fever and body rashes. He was later shifted to an isolated facility at the Lok Nayak Hospital. He is the first suspected case of the disease reported from the Games village.
An official from Uganda was also admitted to the GB Pant Hospital on Sunday after she suffered from dehydration and diarrhoea. On Monday morning, a participant was brought to the hospital from a venue after she complained of nose bleed during a game of netball.
Cases of dehydration were also reported from other designated hospitals. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre received a New Zealand team official, who had reportedly fainted at the archery venue due to heat last week. He was, however, discharged the same day. "He didn't want to spend the night in the hospital and insisted on being discharged," said a hospital source.
