Ahead of British Prime Minister David Cameron's engagements with Indian leadership, London has reached out to assuage New Delhi on their new immigration of workforce policy that has India worried about.

UK has sought India's opinion on the new migration policy, sending in a questionnaire, and the British authorities insist that the new policy will not affect business, students or tourist travels.

But the contours of the UK policy also come with political overtones as the new Liberal Democrat government tries to reverse the immigration policies of the Labour government.

New Delhi maintains that such immigration rules act as a barrier for emerging economies like India.
