Prem Devi (20) lives on the streets that she has worked to improve its state ahead of the Commonwealth Games next month.

At present, she is staying with her family outside the Delhi University Polo Grounds.

Prem Devi is not registered with the Delhi Government’s construction workers’ welfare board due to which she is missing on some of the benefits provided to the construction workers.

She and her family of five have been conducting street scaping work at the site for the last two months.

"Before this, we were conducting street scaping work at India Gate and were living on the streets there as well," she said.

The incessant rains during the past two months have ensured that those living in the streets cannot live without the fear of diseases like dengue and malaria. "The area behind the street is always water logged. My three-year-old son is already down with fever," she said.
