Describing Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee a "long distance runner" in politics, law minister Salman Khurshid on Tuesday said that he and other party colleagues were "very excited" at the prospect of victory of the UPA's candidate in the Presidential election.
"We are all very excited that the race we know will end with our champion runner Pranabda there in Raisina Hills as the President of our country," he said.
"I think this is a great tribute to the long distance runner. He is the long distance runner, I think there is absolutely no doubt about it and we are waiting for him to breast the tape to finish the race and get the applause that he deserves," he said.
On whether the Congress was making attempts to mend relations with the Trinamool Congress whose ministers were mentally prepared to resign from the central government, Khurshid said that at present the Trinamool Congress was a member of the UPA.
"All we know is about the reality of today, where members of Mamataji's party are ministers and working with us," he said.
