The family of Anuj Aditya, who was declared dead because of cardiac arrest at 6.30 on Saturday morning by the doctors treating him at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, is distraught. Their only aim now is to see the culprit punished and a legal action is what they certainly plan.

“We haven’t come out of the shock yet. We have just come back from the funeral, and mom and dad are in terrible shape right now. But we will definitely not sit silent,” said Kshitij, Anuj’s inconsolable brother.

The extended family members, however, have taken charge of the situation and are planning out the legal course they have to take. “We were waiting for the funeral to get over and now we’ll regroup and start to take action,” said Dr Rahul Chauhan, Aditya’s cousin.

The family wants the police to do its bit. “We have full faith in the police and the judiciary. If they have money and power, our family has the sympathy wave. There’s no personal agenda against Utsav Bhasin, but if he is guilty, he should be punished,” said Dr Chauhan.

The family feels Sanjeev Nanda’s conviction recently has given a ray of hope in cases against the high and mighty. “Sanjeev Nanda for all his might and money got convicted so we have reason to believe that justice will be done,” he said.

“The driver was drunk and driving recklessly. He didn’t have the moral courage to lend a helping hand, they didn’t even stop and inform anybody. We have heard he wanted to run to Chandigarh. Abhorrent,” he added.

The family wants Utsav’s passport to be confiscated so he is prevented from leaving the country.
