A 17-year-old law student was killed after his car fell off a flyover in south Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar in the wee hours of the morning on September 30. The minor had lost control over his car. He had been returning to his home in Noida from a pub in Nehru Place when the accident occurred at 3am near the Ashram flyover.
He is understood to be drunk when he lost control of the vehicle, a Honda Civic, after he reached the 30-ft high Ashram flyover before it fell off it. Singh died after his car crashed in an adjacent PWD godown, where two workers had been sleeping, but remain uninjured.

Four persons — including a 14-year-old child, were killed and four others injured after a speeding car ferrying a drunken trio ran them over on the Safdurjung flyover at 1am. The victims were labourers who were repairing a damaged section of the road leading to India Gate from the INA market. The errant vehicle — zooming away at the blinding speed 130 kmph, first ran into the barricade before crushing 12 labourers beneath it. It came to a stop only after crashing into a stationary tractor.

A police constable’s leg was fractured after a speeding Hyundai car Accent — allegedly being driven by the drunken son of a Delhi High Court Judge — rammed into a police picket in Jor Bagh area. Police said the car first rammed into a road divider before ramming into the barricades. One of the barricades fell on ASI Sodan Singh’s leg — who was there on duty, and injured him. He was rushed to the AIIMS trauma centre where doctors noticed multiple fractures in his right leg.

A 31-year-old Indian Army officer’s wife - under the influence of five times the permissible alcohol limit, killed two persons and grievously injured two more after the luxury vehicle that she was speeding in had a head-on collision with an auto rickshaw in the Delhi Cantonment area. Such was the impact that the auto rickshaw driver – identified as Raj Kumar (46), a father of five and a sweets shop owner, Ved Prakash Gupta (53) – sitting right behind Kumar, were killed instantly.
