‘Vikas, Vishal framed’
Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav claims that his son Vikas and nephew Vishal have been framed in the Nitish Katara murder case to destroy him politically, reports Naziya Alvi.
Alleging prime witness Ajay Katara was won over by the prosecution, Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav claimed on Wednesday that his son Vikas and nephew Vishal have been framed in the Nitish Katara murder case to destroy him politically.
Hours after a city court held his son and nephew guilty of abducting and killing Nitish, Yadav called a press conference where he sought to discredit Ajay Katara.
“We will raise our voice against this injustice and approach the Delhi High Court,” said the senior Yadav. “They are trying to destroy my family. My political career has been destroyed,” he added.
The former Rajya Sabha MP said the trial court’s decision was based mainly on the statement of witness Ajay Katara, who was allegedly planted by the police and Nitish’s mother Neelam Katara.
He complained that Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur delivered the verdict despite the defence lawyers informing her that an application seeking to restrain the trial court from pronouncing the judgment was to come up for hearing within minutes before the High Court.
Yadav said the “picture is very clear” about the case, as a sting operation purportedly showed how Ajay was won over as a prosecution witness. “Ajay got a cinema hall in Panipat and a gas agency in Gurgaon in the deal. We want the courts to take the sting operation into account,” he said.
He requested the media to publish/telecast the contents of the CD in which Ajay allegedly admitted he lied to the court on oath that he had seen Nitish in the company of Vikas and Vishal on the fateful night.
