Manoj Singh, the head of Sultanpur Village in Murad Nagar area of Ghaziabad, is very upbeat after several foreign media persons visited his village.

Sultanpur is among 30 model villages selected by the local administration to project and promote social and cultural partnership with foreign tourists visiting India during the ongoing Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

"These villages showcase a picture of our rural backdrop and we are keen to invite foreign tourists, NGOs, corporate groups for building social and cultural partnerships. These groups can even adopt our villages and set up projects for research and development," Ghaziabad Chief Development Officer ZB Sagir told HT.

Many villages have varied specialisation including in handlooms, dairy farming, effective implementation of central and state government schemes.
